Confirmation of Delay of Social Grant Payouts by some Pensioners SASSA has confirmed that there appears to be a delay in pensioners receiving their social grants payout. The agency admits that it does not know yet why some payments are not reflecting in beneficiaries’ bank accounts. According to SASSA, it seems to affect pensioners using Capitec Bank.
Isolated to Capitec Beneficiaries
Andile Tshona, an appointed spokesperson, said that all along the files went out in time for payments, but the funds have not appeared for all pensioners. Further alleged is that, up to now, the problem is localized to Capitec accounts.
SASSA says it is working with Capitec Bank and the South African Reserve Bank in an endeavor to find out the underlying cause of the discrepancy.
Payment files already dispersed
From an internal SASSA view, there have been no delays in the dissemination of payment files. The agency maintains that its internal process was completed on time, so that pensioners ought to have had their grants.
Meaning the problem is after the process stage of SASSA and probably on the banking or interbank settlement system involving Capitec.
What SASSA Is Doing About It
SASSA is investigating this matter, together with Capitec Bank and the Reserve Bank, to locate a source of delays and restore access to pensioners who were denied the funds.
Meanwhile, SASSA encourages the patients to remain calm and keep an eye on their accounts. Should they notice no deposits after an acceptable time window, these pensioners must immediately contact SASSA and Capitec.
What Pensioners Should Reasons Should Know Now
