The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced confirmations for the month of October 2025, relating to the payments for the Grant-In-Aid of R560. With the increasing cost of living and the many demands for social support, plenty of families would like to know the schedule for the month, the eligibility, and how to collect the grant.

What is the SASSA Grant-In-Aid?

Primarily, the Grant-In-Aid offers additional support or top-ups to any recipient or to any grant paid to that beneficiary by SASSA. It cannot act as a grant, purely on its own, being paid to an individual who is already receiving a Permanent Disability Grant, An Older Persons Grant, or War Veterans Grant. The recipients should in such a degree be so severely disabled and incapacitated to need round-the-clock care from the point of view of suffering definitely severe ill-health or gross disability or old age. The medically certified state has to declare that the person affected is in need of assistance in at least some activities of daily care.  Older persons in Grant-In-Aid households receive an amount of R560 per month from October 2025 onward to further support or alleviate the burden of expenses pertaining to these households with dependent vulnerable persons.

Conditions of Eligibility

Applicants for the R560 Grant-In-Aid must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Holder of Another Grant Must be a recipient of an SASSA social grant from SASSA (with the exception of all child-related grants and the SRD Grant).
