SASSA R560 Child Support Grant – September 2025 Payment Schedule Released

Millions of South African families reliant upon CSG would be glad to hear this announcement from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), confirming the payment schedule for the month of September 2025. The grant is at present R560 per child per month and remains one of the significant assistances granted to low-income families countrywide.

Increase to R560 Brings Relief

This year, the Child Support Grant was increased from R540 to R560; thus, this increase has provided some relief to caregivers with costs of food, school supplies, and transport rising tremendously. The increase might seem trivial to many, but for millions of children in households whose members barely exist on meager earnings, this increase may be a blessing. According to SASSA, the R560 is barely enough to address the basic needs of any one child. Whenever possible, families should complement this granting with other sources of income and, failing such, communities should provide support.

Payment Days for September 2025

SASSA granted a payment schedule for the fifth month of September 2025 to effect the payment of:

  • Older Persons Grants: commencing on Tuesday, 2 September 2025;
  • Disability Grants: commencing on Wednesday, 3 September 2025;
  • Child Support Grant and all others: commencing on Thursday, 4 September 2025.

These staggered days mainly go to reduce crowding at the payment points and at the ATMs and to ensure that smooth payments are enjoyed by the people in a secure manner. Beneficiaries paid will be able to withdraw cash on the days mentioned in this schedule, depending on whichever mode of payment has been adopted, that is, by means of a bank account, SASSA card, or POS for cash.

Grant Utility Among Families

It is considered one of the most famous social grants in South Africa given that more than 13 million children have been receiving Child Support Grants all over the country. This monthly allowance, in many families, acts as a key source of the purchase of:

  • School Uniforms and Stationery
  • Food and Nutrition for Every Day
  • Transport to and from School
  • Healthcare and Hygiene Items Basic

While it may not take into consideration all the expenses, it does keep that minimum level for families that are financially distressed.
