South Africa’s Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments for October 2025 are set to be paid in the window 24 October to 30 October 2025. Beneficiaries would be advised that the funds would normally appear in beneficiaries’ bank accounts 2 or 3 business days post-processing. The R370 SRD grants will pay within the window set by SASSA. Meanwhile, other SASSA grants—older-age, disability, child, foster care, and care dependency—are paid earlier in the month: Older Persons Grant 2 October 2025; Disability 3 October; Children and other grants 6 October 2025.
SRD Grant Amounts & Grant Increases
The SRD grant amount will remain at R370 for October 2025. There are no indications from the sources that the SRD grant will increase during this cycle.
In various cases, however, the other SASSA grants do increase to the tune of R10 from October following the adjustments announced in the national budget. Some of the updated amounts include:
- Old Age Grants (60–74) from R2,310 to R2,320
- Grants for persons 75+ and War Veterans from R2,330 to R2,340
- Disability and Care Dependency Grants to R2,320
- The Child Support, Foster Child, and SRD applications remain unchanged in this cycle.
How SRD Payments Will Be Processed
The batches of SRD grants will be processed progressively during the payment period from 24 to 30 October. Beneficiaries can check the SRD status portal on SASSA’s website to find out the exact date scheduled for their payout, as it varies by region.
Once payment transactions are processed, normally, funds are credited to the beneficiaries’ bank or payment accounts within 2 to 3 days of business time. If the date falls on a Saturday or Sunday or any public holiday, SASSA will automatically move it forward to the nearest working day.
What Beneficiaries Should Do
- Check your SRD status as soon as possible on the SRD portal to know whether your application has been approved and to find out your payment date.
- Ensure that bank details or pay point details are correct because any wrong or outdated information might delay your payout.
- Do not rush to receive payments on the first day — the payments will still be available after the official first payment date.
- If payments are not being received on the due date, wait for about 2-3 days and then call SASSA on toll-free number 0800 60 10 11 or rush to your nearest SASSA office.
