SASSA Pension Delays October 2025: When Payments Will Clear For Seniors

Some SASSA pensioners have reported missing or delayed payments as of October 2025. Affected members indicated that even with the payout cycle commencing, their amounts have not gone into their bank accounts. SASSA has come to admit the problem but has not yet been able to fix on any definite cause. Interesting reports suggest that the problem is mostly affecting those who bank with Capitec.

Most Affected Are Capitec Users

A SASSA spokesperson, Andile Tshona, confirmed that payment files were sent out on time from SASSA’s end, but certain beneficiaries, mainly Capitec bank account holders, have still not received their funds. The discrepancies seem to occur downstream of SASSA’s internal processing. SASSA, Capitec, and the South African Reserve Bank are currently working together to find and fix this glitch.

SASSA Claims That It Has Done Its Part

SASSA claims all internal processes related to pension payment disbursement were correctly done and completed according to schedule. Because it is said that the agency holds up its part of the payment chain, it is supposed that these delays originated in the banking or interbank settlement system, especially in systems that involve Capitec.

The Official Version and What Is on the Way

In addressing the delay, SASSA has set up an arrangement with Capitec Bank and the Reserve Bank to trace the fault and set up disbursement flows again. Meanwhile, SASSA is urging the affected pensioners to exercise patience and watch their accounts. Those who find that payments are not clearing after a few days are advised to try resolve the issue by consulting with the banks or local SASSA offices.

The Delay and What You Can Do

The delay seems tied to matters outside the direct control of SASSA—mainly banking or settlement matters pertaining to Capitec. Those who are using other banks for pension disbursements would be less affected. If you are in the afflicted group:

  • Keep checking your bank account for the next couple of business days.
  • Contact Capitec if nothing shows after a reasonable period.
  • Touch base with your local SASSA office to report the non-payment.
  • Keep watching SASSA communications; there could be an announcement as to when resolution would be effected.

Although this may cause some financial inconvenience, these delays are of a technical or interbank nature. In the meantime, SASSA is working on further giving attention to this matter to ensure that pensioners receive their payments without further delay.
